Seaweed Project

This project aims to empower single mothers living in Keko slums, Dar Es Salaam, by promoting climate-smart seaweed farming and value addition as sustainable livelihood strategies. Targeting 50 women with limited income and social vulnerabilities, it provides comprehensive training in seaweed cultivation, processing, financial literacy, and business development, supported by strategic investments in farming supplies, processing equipment, and microfinance groups.

The initiative leverages existing community infrastructure, market linkages, and eco-friendly practices to ensure ecological, economic, and social sustainability, with the goal of increasing household income by at least 30%. Long-term, the project seeks to establish a self-sustaining blue social enterprise, improve living standards, and foster women's social and economic empowerment in the community.
