National Budgeting with Youth Lens
This 2007 advocacy project aimed to influence youth-responsive policies and budgets in Tanzania by building a coalition of youth NGOs and engaging government. Using policy analysis, advocacy training, and public dialogues, it secured government buy-in, improved budget allocations for youth, and established a youth coalition. Challenges included maintaining sustained pressure and fragmented youth voices, while lessons emphasized the importance of high-level engagement and coalition strength. The project demonstrated the power of strategic, non-confrontational advocacy in embedding youth issues into national priorities, laying the groundwork for sustained youth-led policy influence.
