Health project: Promoting the Welfare of Most Vulnerable Children

The Holt Children’s Services Korea 2023-2025 project aims to improve the physical and psychological well-being of 500 vulnerable children living in slums within Temeke District. Its objectives focus on increasing access to health services, providing psychosocial support, and strengthening community-based child protection systems. Activities include health insurance provision, child rights and public health training, sports events, outings, counseling, home visits for coaching and mentoring, urgent issue support, referrals, and stakeholder engagement.

Outcomes show high satisfaction with health service access (63% parents), almost all sponsored children accessing health services (99%), and a significant portion using those services (75%). Additionally, 84.4% of children understand how to protect themselves, all children report feeling happier, and nearly all children are reached regularly through home visits. Challenges faced include limited resources, policy changes, and economic downturns, with donor flexibility helping sustain the project amidst these issues.
