This regional project investigated COVID-19’s gendered impacts on women entrepreneurs in Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania, emphasizing inclusive economic recovery. Using document reviews, case studies, and key informant interviews, it identified barriers such as limited access to finance and digital gaps. Findings revealed that stimulus measures largely excluded women in the informal sector. Lessons underscored the necessity of gender-specific analysis, financial inclusion, and digital literacy. The project produced valuable knowledge and recommendations, advocating for gender-responsive policies essential for resilient economic recovery and women’s empowerment post-pandemic.
