Womens Power Project

This project aimed to empower women entrepreneurs in rural Tanzania by enhancing their productive capacity, market access, and rights awareness. Targeting 5,000 households across four regions, it employed community-based structures, training, and market linkages. Achievements included fully functional economic groups, increased income (average 24%), and asset control, alongside social impacts like improved gender relations. Challenges involved group cohesion, low youth participation, illiteracy, and infrastructure issues. Lessons highlighted the multiplier effect of economic empowerment and the importance of linking income with savings. Despite early project termination, it demonstrated significant social and economic benefits, with innovative social enterprise models fostering sustainability.
